The Apprenticeship Offices have considerable duties as competent operating bodies. The enterprise and school-based section of the training work quite separately. The Provincial Governors decide on appeals in apprenticeship training matters.

The Apprenticeship Offices are located in the regional economic chamber but act on behalf of the ministry of economy. They assess and approve (together with the regional chamber of labour) apprenticeship companies. The Apprenticeship Offices also organise the apprenticeship leave exams.

The Provincial Governors decide on appeals in apprenticeship training matters, such as the withdrawal of the authorisation as a training company, and on cancellations of illegally registered apprenticeship training contracts. Provincial governors appoint the members of their respective LBAB.

Part-time vocational schools are completed if the apprentice finishes every school year successfully. If the last year of the part-time vocational school is not completed successfully there is an additional theoretical part within the apprenticeship leave examination.
